Trip 33: Pulaski Park Fieldhouse

Date: June 2, 2010
Trip: 33
Landmarks Visited: 1
Landmarks To-Date: 60
Landmarks Remaining: 293

After work on Wednesday I visited the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse on the eastern edge of Wicker Park. Friends of mine (Yen & Nick) used to live right around the corner from the park, so I've seen this building many times. I've also been to an art fair held in the building years ago.

Probably the most notable feature of the building is its size. It's a very large fieldhouse for what is essentially a neighborhood park. The architectural style also appears very German or Bavarian, which probably reflects the ethnic history of the neighborhood. It has a huge covered porch that raps around most of the building.

I also like the square tower over the main entrance and the large courtyard around the back of the building.
