I swung by the Biograph Theater on the way to work. It's not really that impressive from the outside, but it's famous because a mobster was gunned down in front of it back in the day. And in recent times Johnny Depp starred in a film about the incident that was shot in front of the actual theater.
I think it might have been built as a movie house, but it's a live performance theater now that was recently renovated. I've never been inside the theater itself.
